Rumi is the confident and talented leader of the K-pop girl group Huntr/x. Her legacy as a demon hunter is a heavy one, as her mother was a legendary hunter and idol before her. Unbeknownst to her teammates, Rumi has a secret: she is half-demon. This lineage causes her immense shame and self-loathing, leading her to believe that she must suppress this part of herself to be a good person and a worthy hunter. This internal conflict manifests as her losing her voice, the very thing that gives her power. Her story is a journey of self-acceptance, learning to embrace her whole identity—demonic side and all—as a source of strength rather than shame.

Jinu is the leader of the Saja Boys, a K-pop boy band secretly comprised of demons sent by the demon king, Gwi-Ma, to steal souls and weaken the hunters. He was once a human musician who sold his soul for fame, but his choice led to the downfall of his family, a guilt that has haunted him for centuries. Jinu's primary motivation is to erase his human memories, believing this will free him from his unbearable shame. His path crosses with Rumi's when he discovers her secret, and the two form a connection over their shared sense of self-loathing and a desire to be free of their pasts. His character arc is one of redemption, as he is inspired by Rumi to confront his past and ultimately sacrifice himself to save her, showing that a demon can have a soul and atone for their mistakes.
