ITA - “ONDE” è un racconto sul continuo mutamento, in cui il mare risuona ovunque, dolce movimento che può cullare prima di trasformarsi in onda anomala e distruggere, facendo tabula rasa. Custodisce al proprio interno numerose metafore e molteplici stati d’animo che come le onde marine possono assumere mille forme. Mentre tutta l’acqua si muove cambiando forma e potenza, ogni canto si lascia attraversare dai suoni dentro un mare di frequenze. La voce di Maria Mazzotta prende il largo, si lascia scagliare lontano e poi affondare, prima di tornare in superficie e, finalmente, riposare. Questo disco racconta il movimento del mare, dal tormento che comporta navigarlo al sollievo che regala, alla fine, ogni approdo.
LA FURTUNA è il brano che apre l’album e con il quale il trio di Maria Mazzotta si dichiara, nel sound e nel messaggio. Un arrangiamento intriso di rock psichedelico per un canto della tradizione salentina che in questa esecuzione ricorda l’avanzata dell’onda, che cresce fino a divenire tempesta. Nei versi il racconto dell’incontro con “la fortuna”, figura lucente e disperata che in mare aperto piange così forte da far piangere tutti i pesci, versa le sue lacrime per i torti e le ingiustizie subite da chi lo attraversa ed affronta le onde in cerca di fortuna e trova invece la sua tomba. Il mare diventa un cimitero, con barconi che affondano ed altre navi che non posso attraccare nei porti. Ormai abituati e quasi assuefatti da queste macabre notizie di attualità, questo brano grida ad alta voce un messaggio di accoglienza, condivisione e soprattutto umanità.

ENG - “ONDE” is a story about continuous change, in which the sea resonates everywhere, the gentle movement that can lull before it transforms into a tidal wave that destroys, making a clean sweep. It holds within itself numerous metaphors and multiple states of mind that, like sea waves, can take on thousands of forms.
While all water moves, changing shape and force, each song lets sounds pass through it within a sea of frequencies in which Cristiano della Monica's percussion and Ernesto Nobili's guitars guarantee Maria Mazzotta's song the possibility to navigate onward. The voice shoves off and sets sail, allowing itself to be hurled far away, sinking before returning to the surface and, finally, finding rest. For the three musicians who, from Lecce and Naples, have always had the sea in their minds and eyes, this album tells the story of the movement of the sea, from the torment that navigating it entails to the relief that, in the end, each landing offers.
LA FURTUNA (LUCK). This song opens the album and is the one in which Maria Mazzotta's trio affirms its sound and message. An arrangement steeped in Psychedelic Rock was created for this folk song from the Salento tradition, evoking the sensation of waves rolling in and gaining force until an all-out storm at sea forms. The verses tell the story of encountering “luck”, a luminous and desperate figure who cries in the open sea so hard that it makes all the fish cry, his tears are for the wrongs and injustices suffered by those who cross it, and he faces the waves in search of a better destiny and instead finds his tomb. The sea has become a cemetery of sinking boats and ships not permitted to dock in ports. Accustomed as we have become by now to these macabre news stories, to the point that we are almost used to them, this song, however, shouts out a message of humanity, acceptance, and sharing.
