ThaboSmol is a South African Afro-house DJ, producer, and percussionist, widely recognized as a founding member of the multi-platinum electronic duo Black Motion. Emerging from Soshanguve in the early 2010s, he played a key role in shaping the group’s signature sound; a fusion of electronic house, traditional African rhythms, live percussion, and spiritual storytelling. Black Motion achieved both local and international acclaim, earning multiple South African Music Awards and building a reputation for electrifying, culturally rooted performances. Following lineup changes in 2022, ThaboSmol has continued to evolve as a solo artist, carrying forward his legacy while expanding his creative footprint within the global Afro-house scene.
