Fin 1960, Serge Gainsbourg compose “La Chanson de Prévert“ en s’inspirant librement des “Feuilles mortes“, le succès d’Yves Montand d’après le poème de Jacques Prévert mis en musique en 1946 par Joseph Kosma pour le film Les Portes de la nuit, de Marcel Carné. Refusée par Juliette Gréco avant d’être dévoilée par Michèle Arnaud, “La Chanson de Prévert“ revient finalement à son auteur original en avril 1961 dans le LP 25cm L’étonnant Serge Gainsbourg.
Soixante ans plus tard, Michel Gondry signe la version animée d’un des titres les plus populaires du répertoire de Serge Gainsbourg à l’occasion d’une rencontre inédite avec le réalisateur. Deux univers créatifs se rejoignent dans un somptueux film d’animation dans lequel l’imaginaire du cinéaste épouse la mélancolie poétique des mots de Gainsbourg.
